Headway, an initiative of The New York Times, aims to “explore the world’s challenges through the lens of progress.” Editors Terry Parris Jr. and Matt Thompson joined us to discuss their approach to reporting on homelessness and why it is important for media outlets to bolster their housing and homelessness coverage. We talked about how people with lived experience, advocates, providers and other stakeholders inform their reporting, and how to build strong relationships with journalists.
