Our Work

The Lab builds public understanding about how housing is foundational to healthy, thriving and vibrant communities. We shift public opinion about the root causes of housing insecurity and homelessness and their impact on our communities, so we can advance new narratives that lay the groundwork for housing solutions.

We offer narrative research and implementation support, including messaging, storytelling and strategic communications, for grassroots organizations, local, state and national advocates, service and housing providers and government entities working to ensure everyone has a safe place to live. Let’s tell the real story about housing as a basic need that requires public investment. If you are interested in working with us, get in touch!

Narrative Research, Message Development and Implementation
We work with groups across the country to identify and analyze the status quo narratives that exist and persist in their local communities and probe how to build a new narrative. This includes determining values and messaging targets for a narrative that helps the public understand the truth about who experiences housing insecurity and homeless and why and the impact on our communities.

Narrative Implementation
Does your organization want to change the narrative about housing for all in your community? We provide strategic planning, implementation and technical assistance with:
– Organization narrative and communications strategy
– Storytelling
– Media Strategy
– Content strategy and creation

Narrative and Storytelling Education and Training
We provide trainings tailored to your specific needs on topics including narrative and messaging basics, storytelling principles, narrative research, media and social media strategy, and more.
